Funding Programmes

We offer affordable childcare to all families including the Free Preschool Year & other government funded schemes, such as CCS, and TEC. These programmes are administered by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs.

Community Childcare Subvention (CCS)

This programme is restricted to community/not-for-profit childcare services. The CCS Programme supports disadvantaged parents and provides support for parents in low paid employment and training or education by enabling qualifying parents to avail of reduced childcare costs within community childcare services.

Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Programme

The objective of the ECCE programme is to make early learning in a formal setting available to eligible children in the year before they commence primary school.  To achieve this, services participating in the pre-school year are required to provide age-appropriate activities and programmes to children within a particular age cohort.  For this reason, it is necessary to set minimum and maximum limits to the age range within which children will qualify to participate in the programme. Children qualify for the free pre-school year where they are aged more than 3 years 2 months and less than 4 years 7 months at 1 September in the relevant pre-school year.

Training and Employment Childcare (TEC) Programmes

The TEC Programmes are:

Childcare Education and Training Support Programme (CETS)

The CETS Programme formerly catered for FAS and VEC training course participants and now provides childcare on behalf of the Local Education and Training Boards.

After-School Child Care Programme (ASCC)

The ASCC is administered on behalf of the Department of Social Protection and provides afterschool care for primary school children for certain categories of working parents and parents on DSP employment programmes (not including Community Employment).

Community Employment Childcare Programme (CEC)

The CEC is administered on behalf of the Department of Social Protection and provides childcare for children of parents who are participating on Community Employment schemes.
